Written by Beatriz Calero The Birkenstocks, the furry flip-flops, or the orthopaedic looking sneakers. These are just some examples of the so-called “ugly shoes´ trend”. Last in joining the list are the babouche (Moroccan style) sleepers! Truth is, as the fashionistas (and shoe-aholics) we are, we are not afraid (at all!) in joining any fashion trend. And, with the coming of summer, we are more than prepared to go shopping a new pair of the hottest shoes of the season, the babouche sleepers! Are you one of those who feel totally awkward by wearing a pair of high heels? Then, you are definitely in luck this summer, as the it-shoes for spring/summer 2017 are flat, pointed and pretty comfy! Babouche sleepers were extremely fashionable some years ago (I remember to have some pairs in pastel colours and decorated with shiny jewellery!). Today, Moroccan sleepers come, either in the original style, or in renewed models that make them more modern and cosmopolite. Although these shoes are clearly inspired in the oriental (Moroccan) style, there is no need to travel to Morocco to start using these shoes as they are landing just on our favourite stores and shopping webs. Therefore, babouches are perfect to wear both for the most cosmopolite beaches (such as the Ibiza one) but

Written by Ksenija Rodos The political situation is driving celebrities to make a clear statement for months already, which in times of Social Media is easier than ever before. The new president of America is encouraging a new wave of feminism, where women have the feeling to stand up for their rights and make clear, that every woman on earth has the power to be independent. And fashion has always been a great way to express feelings and opinions! Just remember Mary Quant, launching the mini skirt in times of feminism in the 6o-ies or Coco Chanel, who might stand for the biggest feminism expression in fashion so far, releasing women from the corset, wearing the ‘boyfriend-style’ in the 20-ies and early 30-ies. Now celebrities like Rihanna, Beyoncé, Natalie Portman and fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni (just to name a few) are wearing statement t-shirt’s, to express their mind and to encourage other women all around the world, to stand up for their rights and make a clear statement as well. And well, it works! Dior picked up the trend and came just in time with their new collection of statement shirt’s, which they also presented at their last fashion show in Paris in September, where they presented the new line for autumn / spring 2017.

We collected all the key trends for spring 2017 which you can put on your shopping list:   The in-between jacket Mostly in spring it is too warm to wear your winter jacket, still not warm enough to go just without. Of course, in Spain it gets really sunny and warm during the day, but as soon as the sun disappears or it gets slightly breezy, you will be happy to add a light jacket or coat to your outfit. In 2017 capes are a big thing! They were part of loads of fashion shows for the 2017 collections and make a must-have for this year! The good thing about capes is that you can wear it to every occasion: Great for your office outfit and cool enough for your weekend street style look.       Backless sweaters and shirts

Written by Beatriz Calero For any fashionista, it is quite difficult to decide who are the best of the best in the fashion world. Today, we tell you about fashion designers that definitely changed our way of dressing, thinking and living! Discover who created these staple pieces you love so much. You may learn A LOT about fashion history today:   Mary Quant and the mini-skirt (1960): Not many designers changed fashion history as Mary Quant did. She absolutely revolutionized the way women were dressing at the time (and still today!). Women started showing their legs, something that was absolutely related with feminism and with the start of women liberation. Still today, the mini-skirt is one of best-seller pieces of clothing all around the world!   Cacharel and the fitted blouses for women (1963): Jean Bousquet founded Cacharel in 1962 in the southern French city of Nîmes. Cacharel first iconic piece was the liberty-print fitted blouse, which actually put the brand firmly on the fashion map. The staple blouse became fashion house’s emblematic piece and the must-have fashion item that featured in every woman’s wardrobe in the 1960s and 1970s.   Yves Saint Laurent and the tuxedos for

Written by Laura Antolín We are sure you’ve already mastered the art of jeans, being a pro at choosing the best ones for your body and we bet you have your wardrobe full of denims that look amazing on you. But shorts are a whole different story. They are a basic clothing piece in summer, but getting the right ones for your body type it’s not so simple. In fact, they can become your nemesis. They can be tricky enough to play against you and make visible some parts of your body you don’t want to show. In other words, they don’t flatter your figure. The thing is that it is complicated to find a pair of shorts that emphasize your best features and minimize your not-so-ideal ones, as they don’t provide as much coverage as jeans or pants. When choosing shorts, first of all, you need to make sure they are not too tight – they should lay smoothly. Likewise, it is key to find the perfect balance between the upper part and the lower one. It’s all about the silhouette! That’s why in DressedIn Barcelona we’ve compiled a list of tips on how to choose the right shorts based on your silhouette. Take note! Straight. Women with a straight body are quite thin

Written by Laura Antolín Tall women wished to be shorter, and short women wished to be taller. The same happens with your hair: when you have it straight, you want waves, and when you have curly hair, you would wish to have it straight. Why is it that women always want what they can’t have? No clue, but it doesn’t matter. Whatever way we look like, we’ll always find faults. It is a fact of life! Today, in DressedIn Barcelona we focus on one of these — almost — impossible illusions: how petite can wear the so trendy oversized clothes without looking even shorter. Are we being too naive? Well, we’ll take it as a compliment! Stay alert, because if you identify yourself with the term “petite” — understood as women who stand under 5-foot-4 —, you’ll find the next tips to wear oversized clothing very useful. Choose your one and only oversized piece. Whenever you try to pull off an oversized-inspired outfit, don’t go too far with the extra-large clothes. For example, if you want to wear oversized clothing on top, then match with slim fitting bottoms. Choose always one single oversized piece, not an oversized shirt under an oversized jumper, for instance. Balance is key. Show some skin. You may wear oversized clothing, but

Written by Laura Antolín A whole sports, fitness and healthy culture has arisen in the past few years since more and more people are taking great care of their body — and mind — by practicing sports and fitness activities like yoga and following a balanced and low-fat diet. This habit has spread like wildfire and today going to the gym has become part of the daily routine for all those who consider looking and feeling good as important as simply breathing. And fashion – that can be sometimes really practical — reflected this lifestyle on a new wave of sports and activewear — remember it was already a hot trend in the 90’s. Fashion takes a step forward and becomes now more comfy and sporty than ever, making our lives a whole lot easier — we must admit it — and erasing almost completely the line between what’s strictly fashion and what’s practical as sportswear. The gym look — add the term “athleisure” to your fashion vocabulary if you haven’t done it yet — is the coolest thing in the street style scene at the moment, even if you don’t really enjoy the working out part… But a — comprehensive — question can bother you: “Can we really wear sportswear like track pants and

Written by Laura Antolín Festival season was officially inaugurated with Coachella in April – probably the most stylish festival on the planet or, at least, the one with more celebrities as public. But we don’t need to cross the ocean to enjoy hours — and days — of live performances outdoors. Arenal Sound in Castellón, FIB in Benicassim or Glastonbury in England are just a few of the music festivals that are true attractions for music lovers in Europe. What an experience! Indeed, music festivals have become the star event of the season, and nowadays we can’t even imagine a summer without them. Organizers bring us every edition more and bigger surprises that open our eyes like saucers and “force” us to go. How could we miss the chance to see some of our favourite musicians live and enjoy the many parallel activities offered? In short, how could we say no to an experience like this? And with our friends! Whether you’re a die-hard music fanatic or you’re just there for the atmosphere, one thing is for sure: you need the perfect outfit! You probably want to have the best time of your life and you can only do this if you prepare everything in advance. So follow our essentials for a memorable music festival

Written by Laura Antolín From the intimacy of the bedroom to the pure exhibitionism in the streets, what we used as underwear and nightwear, we’ll use it now as outerwear and daywear too — the boundaries between public and private have never been so blurry! That’s how the slip dress is defined this season. Lingerie stores must be rubbing their hands because intimate clothes have become the ultimate thing. Even classic pyjamas — yes, those monocholor or printed satin shirt and pants that we could perfectly find on our grandparents’ wardrobe — can be seen today on the stores’ tracks like any other clothes ready to wear on the streets. So following the same logic, slipping on a sensual nightgown is totally in at the moment! The nightwear-as-daywear trend is a 90’s revival — another more, remember the statement earrings, the patches for clothes and the bomber jackets —, and we all know its biggest fan ever: Kate Moss. The top model that barely started her career back then became the party queen with a minimal slip dress and no accessories to be seen anywhere — she didn’t need them though, the effect she caused was extremely effective on its own. But she was not the only one that relied on the dress. Gwyneth Paltrow

Written by Laura Antolín With the return of the chocker, bomber jackets and fashionable patches, it was about time that the logo obsession made a comeback. This phenomenom that we’re dubbing “logomania” was a big hit in the 90’s in an attempt to enhance the feeling of belonging to an exclusive social group. From bags to T-shirts, belts or sweatpants, big firms relied on designs emblazoned with logos, dressing buyers as if they were billboards. But this logo display later became too much to bear and a minimalist and subtle luxury took charge, until today. In 2016 logo’s and signatures prints have become a true statement again, as we saw in the fashion runways with Lanvin, Vetements —who introduced the unforgettable DHL T-shirt on its ss16 collection—, DKNY or even restrained brands like Loewe placing their logos everywhere. But the special thing about logomania this time is that it is not a question of status or ostentatiousness anymore, but a show of playful irony and, what makes it more unusual: brands are using logos that are not theirs, as in the case of Moschino, which took it to a whole new level: Moschino ft. Sponge Bob, Moschino ft. McDonald’s, Moschino ft. Barbie —who knows what else Jeremy Scott has for us? Same thing did Anya Hindmarch, adopting

Written by Laura Antolín In fashion —where everything always comes back— you can go from one extrem to another in just a couple of months and it is precisely what happened this season: minimalist jewelry or XS jewelry have given way to dramatic jewelry, being XXL earrings on top of the list. In last autumn/winter season we witnessed the resurrection of oversize clothes —right from the 90’s— among the street style trends and, following the premise “size matters”, oversize earrings are now the biggest fetish complement in fashion. Yes, earrings got the dramatic treatment for spring/summer 2016, as the great maisons in fashion showed us on the runways: Prada adorned each model’s ear with embellished orbs that looked like disco ball ornaments, while Oscar de la Renta delighted us with sophisticated tassels, and Gucci surprised us all with kilometric earrings. XXL earrings —the bigger and more outrageous the better—, become the stars of the most stylish spring looks. These accessories speak for themselves and provide a huge dose of style, making every outfit shine. Due to its dimensions, maxi earrings have the power to add character to any outfit, even if you are wearing your regular blue jeans and a basic T-shirt, paired with, for example, a bomber jacket. For these casual looks using XXL
